Written and designed by art adviser, curator and creative designer, Maria Brito and with an introduction by art dealer, writer, art adviser and curator, Jeffrey Deitch, Greek Gotham; is a lush and colorful contemporary art catalogue that examines the legacy of Ancient and Classical Greek through the lens of a group of 16 contemporary artists based in New York City. Artists include: assume vivid astro focus, Nina Chanel Abney, Greg Bogin, Mira Dancy, Raul De Nieves, Michael Dotson, Sebastian Errazuriz, Nir Hod, Todd James, Misaki Kawai, KAWS, Robert Lazzarini, Austin Lee, Taylor McKimens, Matthew Palladino and Erik Parker. While making comparisons to Classical and Ancient Greece, the essays and artworks touch on many relevant issues present in New York today: LGBT, drugs, sexuality, social inequality, race, body image, technology and social media, among others. This catalogue is published in conjunction with Greek Gotham, a group show curated by Maria Brito at Dio Horia on the Island of Mykonos and comprised exclusively of New York-based artists.
